SCALEWEBLINK · REST / JSON

Your scale.
In your application.

ScaleWebLink is a web service for communicating with a scale through an encrypted REST interface. Through CloudScaleLink, it connects weighing equipment to your business system and returns a structured JSON response.

Capture without retyping

Your application requests weight and can use it directly in goods receipt, production, dispatch or quality control.

One integration interface

Scale-specific commands are configured in the protocol. Your application calls named actions such as Get_Weight.

Develop before connecting

API test and the simulator let you validate integration before a physical scale is connected.

From command to data

  1. 01

    Connect the scale through CloudScaleLink and add it to Scale Monitor.

  2. 02

    Select the protocol, version, actions and associated commands.

  3. 03

    Your system sends a POST request with MID, PIN and the action name.

  4. 04

    Receive the scale response, available weight data or an error description.

Weight request example (POST / JSON)

{
  "mid": "yourMID",
  "pin": "yourCSLPIN",
  "action": "Get_Weight"
}

Scale response example (JSON)

{
  "error": 0,
  "errorCode": null,
  "errorMsg": "",
  "scaleResponse": "SIX1 S 0 N R R 0 0 0 1 P 0.068     0.000   0.068 kg",
  "dateTime": "Wed, 04 Sep 2024 11:07:51 GMT",
  "weightData": {
    "net": 0,
    "gross": 0.068,
    "tare": 0.068,
    "unit": "kg",
    "stability": 1,
    "expectedResponseStatus": null,
    "expectedResponseMsg": null
  }
}

The response includes request status, the raw scale response and the execution time. Net, gross, tare, unit and stability are returned when the protocol provides them; unavailable data is null.

ERP · MES · WMS · LIMS

Where can you integrate weighing?

ERP and WMS

Capture weight during receipt or dispatch and associate the measurement with a document in your system.

MES and production

Include weighing in your workflow and check weight at a process step.

Laboratory and quality control

Transfer results to your own application or LIMS without manually retyping them.

IT and system integrators

Build your interface using REST/JSON and validate it with the simulator.

For developers

More than reading weight

In addition to reading weight (Get_Weight), you can add standard commands such as taring, zeroing, setting tare and clearing tare. You can also define additional custom commands, for example displaying text on the scale screen, and other actions supported by the scale.

What does ScaleWebLink return?

The response includes request status, the raw scale response and the execution time. Net, gross, tare, unit and stability are returned when the protocol provides them; unavailable data is null.

Frequently asked questions about ScaleWebLink

What is ScaleWebLink?

ScaleWebLink is a web service that communicates with a scale through CloudScaleLink using REST requests and JSON responses.

Can I use an existing scale?

Yes, if it can connect through CloudScaleLink and its communication protocol can be configured. We check the manufacturer, model, connector and required commands before integration.

Can I tare a scale from my application?

Yes, if the scale and protocol support taring. Define an action and its command in Scale Monitor, then call the action through ScaleWebLink.

Is an internet connection required?

Yes. The documented connection uses a cloud service and a connected scale or simulator.

Can I test without a physical scale?

Yes. The Scale Monitor simulator generates a MID and PIN for testing. API test checks actions and displays responses.

Are all weight fields always available?

No. net, gross, tare, unit and stability depend on the scale response and protocol. null means that data was not received.

How is scale access protected?

Communication uses an encrypted connection. MID and PIN authorize access; keep them on the server side of your integration.

Is ScaleWebLink the weighing history API?

ScaleWebLink sends actions to a connected scale and returns its response. Accessing stored weighing records and databases is a separate task of the Scale Monitor REST API.
