Parts counting with Neutron NT

Prepare a specified quantity of screws, washers or other parts of the same type without manually counting the entire batch. Neutron NT calculates the piece count from net weight and average piece weight.

The piece count takes centre stage

The large piece count is accompanied by net and gross weight, tare and average piece weight, APW. Target and tolerances are expressed in pieces; the 10, 50 and 100 buttons help establish the reference.

Key features

A reference from a known sample

Determine average piece weight by weighing a known number of reference parts. You can also enter average piece weight manually.

A target quantity in pieces

Set the piece count for a pack or order and the permitted deviations. The display helps you prepare the required quantity.

Subtract the packaging

Tare a bin, bag or other packaging. The piece count is calculated using the net weight of the contents.

Save the product and batch with the result

Associate the count with the selected product, customer, batch and note to keep track of the quantity prepared.

How it works

Determine average piece weight

Tare the container, add an accurately counted sample and confirm the actual number of reference parts.

Prepare the quantity

Add parts and watch the calculated count. Set a target and tolerances when preparing a pack.

Save the result

Save the quantity with the product and other data used in your workflow.

Example of use

To prepare a bag of 100 M4 screws, determine average piece weight from a counted sample, tare the packaging and add screws until the display shows 100 pieces. The target remains visible throughout.

Choosing a workstation for your process

To choose a counting scale, establish the weight of the lightest part, the largest pack and the variation between parts. Distributors and customers should select suitable scale readability and prepare a representative sample of the same type of parts. A correct reference and a sufficiently sensitive scale are essential for a useful result.

Local operation. Connected data.

The applications run locally on the Neutron NT terminal, so the weighing process does not depend on a continuous internet connection. Measurements are saved automatically to the SD card and, when connected, to Scale Monitor Cloud. The free web application also lets you edit indicator screens, databases, dynamic fields and print layouts.

Weighing history and the details behind each record

Automatic saving and a history view that suits your work

Measurements are saved automatically to the local SD card and, when connected, to Scale Monitor Cloud. Choose which fields appear in the history table and tailor the view to your application, products and daily information needs.

From a table row to the complete record

Open a saved weighing to see all its parameters. A dosing record includes the formula, target, achieved weight, cycle and elapsed time, so you can review the result alongside the settings used to produce it.

Customise the workstation without programming

Use the free Scale Monitor Cloud web application to adapt Neutron NT to your process quickly and easily. Customise the entire indicator screen, create your own databases and dynamic fields, and design receipts or labels.

An indicator screen designed around your process

Use the graphical editor to customise the layout, appearance, buttons and displayed data without programming. Show operators the information they need for the application they are using.

Your own databases, with Excel import

Create product, customer or other databases for your workstation. Import data from Excel or integrate databases with other systems through the REST API to reduce manual re-entry.

Dynamic fields for your process data

Add your own fields, such as batch, work order or an extra identifier. Set the field name, data type and default value, and choose whether an entry is required before saving.

Fully customisable receipts and labels

Use the free Scale Monitor Cloud editor to design POS receipts or packaging labels. Arrange weighing data, text, a logo, barcodes or QR codes and your own dynamic fields.

Add identification, printing and photo capture

Extend the workstation to suit the job: select a product by barcode, identify an operator with RFID, label the packaging or capture a photograph when a weighing is saved.

SM-LP230-E label printer

Label packaging with weight, piece count, product, batch, operator and machine-readable codes. Fully customise the layout in the free Scale Monitor Cloud application.

SM-PET20-T POS printer

Print a weighing ticket or receipt with measurement and process data. Design its contents and layout in the free Scale Monitor Cloud editor.

Wireless barcode reader

Scan a 1D or 2D code to select a product, enter a batch or identify an order. The industrial SM-BS1D2D-IGD connects directly to Neutron NT over Bluetooth.

CS-CAM-SO camera

Capture a photograph when a weighing is saved. Add a visual record of the material, product or packaging to the weight record for later review.

CS-A-NFC-RFID2 NFC/RFID reader

Identify an operator with a contactless badge. The embedded NFC/RFID reader simplifies operator identification at the workstation and associates the task with the identified user.

Frequently asked questions

What does APW mean?

APW is average piece weight. The application divides the net weight by this value to calculate the number of parts.

Can I count a mixture of parts with different weights?

Use parts of the same type with a representative average piece weight. A mixture of different parts does not have one useful reference for determining their total count.

Can I enter average piece weight manually?

Yes. The application supports manual APW entry. Use the correct unit and a sufficiently accurate value.
